Khud Se Kai Sawal grew out of notebooks Amit Dutta began keeping as a film student. Written in fragments and arranged across different periods, the book follows the gradual formation of his ideas on cinema and artistic practice. Its reflections open onto larger questions of philosophy and artistic responsibility, while occasional notes on chess reveal another meeting point between intuition and discipline. Through these entries, a young filmmaker discovers his medium by repeatedly questioning himself. Originally written partly in Hindi and partly in English, the book was translated in full into Hindi by the writer Geet Chaturvedi.
