Director’s Note:

Roy’s lifelong efforts to boil down forms and colours to the minimalism of the brush and the primaries is most fascinating. Within his minimalism is an irreproducible multitude caused by the choice of mediums – the brush with it’s pressure sensitivity and the earth pigments which only the soil can produce. In retrospect, the complexity of these analog colours is such that every inch of them gives a different value unlike the digital pantone, the textures and values irreproducible by any mechanical means and yet easy. Could we reach out to nature through his seemingly flat colours and establish the diversity in this uniformity? By superimposing the forms and colours in his paintings that intersect and interact with those of nature’s, the film attempts to bring out the abundance that comes from organic recyclability.
